A diferencia de otros premios de la temporada, los SAG Awards se caracterizan por la participación de actores y actrices en la votación. Los miembros del sindicato, votan por las mejores actuaciones tanto en películas como series. Además del reconocimiento a mejor actriz o actor, también estos premios reconocen a mejor elenco de dobles.
