Esta noche se celebró la 74a versión de entrega de los Globos de Oro, que estuvo animada por Jimmy Fallon.
Previo a la ceremonia, destacaban las nominaciones en cine de La La Land, Manchester by the sea y Hacksaw Ridge, logrando la primera citada ganar todas las estatuillas que disputó (7 de 7): mejor película, director, actor y actriz de comedia, guion, banda sonora y canción original. Mientras que Moonlight logró ganar en la categoría más esperada, como mejor película de drama.
Por otro lado, la cinta chilena Neruda no pudo hacer mucho en la categoría de mejor película extranjera, donde la ganadora fue la francesa Elle, que también se impuso en la categoría de mejor actriz de drama, dejando a Natalie Portman (Jackie) con las manos vacías.
Mientras tanto, en televisión las detacadas fueron la serie de drama The Crown y Atlanta, que se impusieron como mejor serie de drama y comedia, respectivamente.
